Valentine’s Day is upon us again and lovers are getting prepped to treat each other to a beautiful day.
Couples in long-distance relationships may be feeling left out because they don’t live in the same city with their partner.
If you fall into this category, I know how you feel considering I am in a long-distance relationship as well.
But all hope is not lost; thankfully, you can also celebrate as though you are in the same city; it is possible to have a great Valentine’s Day celebration as well.
How? You may ask.
There are creative ways to celebrate Valentine’s Day in a long-distance relationship.
-
Send A Gift
There is hardly anybody that doesn’t like receiving gifts. Of course, there are people that don’t really enjoy gifts because it is not their love language, especially if their actual love language is starved.
But averagely, most people like gifts, especially if the gift is something they like. So, the onus is on you to listen to them and know what they will appreciate.
The world is now a global village and e-commerce has made it easy to ship goods anywhere.
All you have to do is pay for a product and enter your partner’s contact details instead of yours and the store will deliver it.

Send Them A Handmade Gift
The beauty of handmade gifts is that it doesn’t have to be perfect; it just has to come from the heart.
You can get different ideas of what to make from Pinterest and even tips on how to go about it.
A very popular handmade gift, though, is a scrapbook. You can get your favourite pictures of the both of you from social media if you don’t have hard copies.
Get them printed, and attach them to different pages and maybe say something about each picture; your memory of it and how you felt the day you took it.
You can add memories and certain quotes from both of you.
The basic thing is to wear your creative hat and get creative with it.
-
Write A Love Letter
Another creative way to celebrate Valentine’s Day in a long-distance relationship is to write a love letter to each other and there are different forms the letter can take.
You can mail a handwritten letter leading up to the day; you can decide to send short notes a week leading up to Valentine’s Day or just one long letter that will get to them on February 14th.
Another option is to send them an email. Most people usually use email for official matters so it is different and that will make it special.
And you use the good old text message to write them a letter of what they mean to you and how much you care about them.
-
Watch A Movie Together
Watching a movie together is something movie lovers in a long-distance relationship do not get to do together often.
But it doesn’t have to be like that.
You can schedule a time that will both work for you and watch a movie on Netflix and either talk at intervals or wait to discuss the movie after watching it.
-
Send A Video Message
A video is a lot more personal because people can feel a connection when they can hear and see you instead of just reading from you.
Make a video of you singing your favourite songs or telling your lover what they mean to you or reading a love letter you wrote to them.
-
Plan A Video Call Date
You might feel unconscious if you do this in public, so I will suggest you plan the date at home.
However, if you are not comfortable doing this in public, please go for it. Get a table for two and do a video call with your partner while enjoying your meal.
If you want to do this at home, you can make a nice meal or order something, set the table and make your call.
The fact that you are both into it, talking and eating like you would if you were on a date together, makes it feel like you are actually physically together.
-
Create a Playlist
Create a playlist of all your couple songs; the songs that mean something to both of you; the songs that you describe how you feel about him and your relationship and share with your partner
-
Call Them First Thing In the Morning and Before You Sleep
This might seem very ordinary but it is very effective.
Call them first thing in the morning; if you talk often, you should know the time they are likely to be awake.
Call them and let them know how much you love them and how much you love having them in your life.
Then repeat the process at night.
Of course, you don’t have to say the same thing all over again. You can decide to write down what you will say in the morning and in the night.
-
Plan a Surprise Trip
Surprising them when they are not expecting to see you is definitely a creative way to celebrate Valentine’s Day in a long-distance relationship.
This is most effective when you have already agreed that visiting will be impossible and your lover have made up their mind not to see you soon.
It is the most romantic thing ever.
-
Plan a Trip to a Holiday Destination
On the other hand, you can both plan a trip to a destination that you both desire to visit. This place will not only be neutral, but it will also be a change of scenery.
You are definitely likely to enjoy it more than visiting each other and probably doing the same things you do when you visit.
