I don’t bother about the enemy … I don’t know about you but I don’t. It is not because I don’t think wickedness high places exist … that would be terribly naive of me.

I know and believe they exist because my Bible tells me so and even in the little time I have spent on the earth, I have seen so many messy things that people explain away as coincidence, karma, life or whatever word they have for it, but I know it is something more.

Some situations just do not fall into any of these categories above but even the Bible acknowledges the existence of evil manipulations.

“For we are not fighting against people made of flesh and blood, but against the evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against those mighty powers of darkness who rule this world, and against wicked spirits in the heavenly realms.” Ephesians 6:12 NLT

“Be careful! Watch out for attacks from the Devil, your great enemy. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for some victim to devour.” 1 Peter 5:8 NLT

“The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy.” John 10:10 NLT

So yeah, the activities of the devil and his spiritual forces are clear in the Bible. But I don’t bother about them.

And just in case you think it is from a place of pride, it isn’t. It is from a place of understanding.

I used to … like most people; I was always scared of the enemy and what they can do to me. But I have come to a place of understanding that what the devil does or doesn’t do does not matter to me.

When things seem unclear, it is simply an indication that I am far from God. The only solution I need is spending time with God and drawing enough from Him to become more and more like Him.

The first time I had this revelation was when one of my best friends showed us the scripture in Proverbs 16:7, “When the ways of people please the LORD, he makes even their enemies live at peace with them.” NLT

When she pointed us to that verse, I was shocked because I hadn’t come across it prior to that time or maybe I had read it before but it didn’t resonate till that moment.

The understanding solidified when I heard the story of a certain place that was disturbed by a certain plague or enemy and the people were seriously praying for God’s help with it.

After they had put so much effort praying, God told – if I remember rightly – the leader to stop praying and He further told him that one of his sons entered the town, so He has settled the issue.

That struck me.

Here were these people sweating profusely over an issue and God settled it because of the presence of His son in that area. The son that didn’t even know about the plague to even think about praying over it.

Just his presence in the town was remedy.

I don’t know about you but I choose to be the son whose presence drives demons away.

And the good news is that God does not have favourites, it is totally dependent on us, whether we want to have that kind of relationship with Him or not.

Reaching that kind of position will need discipline and sacrifice on our side to spend more time with God. So, if you ask me, I rather spend the time used casting out demons to be closer to the Father.

Trust me, I have nothing against casting and binding demons and I still pray that prayer. The only problem is that most of those prayers come from a place of fear and not our position in Christ.

And we are right to fear, really because we have not all spent time owning that position.

And that is what I will rather expend my energy on. There is a condition … if the ways of a man pleases God – that is the condition.

And how can the ways of a man please God? The Bible, according to Psalm 119:9, says, “How can a young person stay pure? By obeying your word and following its rules.” NLT

How can we obey His words and follow His commands? “If you love me, obey my commandments.” John 14:15 NLT

How can we love God? We cannot love Him out of our own accord, we have to stay glued, connected, focused in order to love Him because love comes by knowledge.

The more of God we know, the more of Him we love and when we love Him, we can obey Him and when we obey Him, we please Him and when we please Him, He makes our enemies live at peace with us, then we have victory.

At the end of the day, it all boils down to how much time we are spending with God to know God.

Are you willing?
