BELIEVING IS NOT MENTAL

For years, I had issues with many who say they belief in Jesus and say they are Christians but their lives are nothing to write home about.

Just in case you think I want to act all sanctimonious, let me just state that after I gave my life to Christ, I struggled with a lot of things, trust me.

So I have absolutely no right to act all self-righteous.

But you see the emphasis here is on STRUGGLE.

There were many things I did that I didn’t like myself for. I was always crying to God for help, telling Him how I needed help and wanted to be a better daughter, a daughter He is pleased with.

If that is your situation, then your case is different and if I would recommend help, I would recommend listening to Joseph Prince, that man really opened my eyes to the freedom I had in Christ.

But you see, the people I am talking about are those who say they believe in Christ and are completely comfortable in their sins.

I always wonder how that was possible.

This what the Bible has to say about anybody in Christ, “Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.” I John 3:9.

Other simpler versions says “does not make a practice of sin”

So isn’t it, therefore, contradictory when someone who claims to be born of God makes a practice of and even justifies and is comfortable in sin?

It does not matter how long you have been in the church or how many titles you have, if you make a practice of sin, you are not yet born of God.

You might be asking … how can one be born of God?

This is where it gets tricky. The Bible gave us the criteria … believe

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life … He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.” John 3:16,18.

When the keeper of the prison asked Paul and Silas what he must do to be saved, having seen the mighty hand of God in delivering His people from prison, their reply to him was, “And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.” Acts 16:31.

If the answer is believe, then what are we missing? What we are missing is that the “believe” is not mental, it is from the heart.

I mean think about it, scriptures told us in James 2:19 that the devils BELIEVE and as a matter of fact, even tremble. The devil, I believe, believes more than we do. He does not doubt what God says He will do, we doubt God from time to time. But the devil knows.

So if believing was mental, don’t we think, they would be classified as Christians as well?

Don’t we think we wouldn’t be talking about the devil as we are now, if that kind of belief was all there was to it?

All we need to be born of God is to only believe, but it is by believing in our heart, not our head. It is a “believe” that is causes a regeneration of our inner man from the Adamic nature to the sinless nature of God. It is a “believe” that makes us hate sin and love righteousness.

It is not one that accommodates and justifies sin. It is not one that is gotten from being born in the church and going to church and definitely not from having titles in the church, it is one gotten from a true encounter with the Father.

If you find yourself in that place, all hope is not lost, all you have to do is cry to God, He is ready to embrace us.

Like the prodigal son whose father ran to meet him while he was still a far off, God is ready to run to meet us while we are still afar off, He is simply waiting for us to make the first move.

Are you going to keep Him waiting today or stretch out your hand to life eternal?
